Retrieving your e-mail with your browser using Netscape Mail
To set up an e-mail account on your computer, follow these simple steps.  Determine which browser you use when on the Internet, and follow the appropriate instructions below.  These instructions are for the 6.0 version Netscape Navigator.  If you have an older browser and have trouble with your e-mail set up, you may want to upgrade to 6.0 before continuing, or refer to your browser's help section for alternate directions for e-mail set up.

Requirements for retrieving your e-mail yourdomain.com:
  1. To retrieve e-mail you must have an e-mail (pop) account set up at your site with a user name and password.
  2. You must be online for Netscape to retrieve your e-mail, if you are not connected to the internet you will get an error message when you try to retrieve your e-mail.
  3. Open Netscape Mail and make the following changes:

Netscape Navigator 4.0 - 6.0

In your browser, click on the "Edit" menu on your top menu bar

In the drop down menu, click on "Preferences".


On the preferences screen, click on the "+" sign in front of "Mail & Newsgroups" in the category outline.  Doing this will open the "Mail & Newsgroups" subcategories.

Click on the "Mail Servers" sub-category under "Mail & Newsgroups".

Click the "Edit" button located on the right side of the "Preferences" screen.


Insert the appropriate information in the fields provided.

Server Name: This field should include your domain address.
(ex: inetimage.net)

Server Type: This field should read POP3 Server.  If it does not, click the pull down menu arrow to the right of the field and select "POP3 Server".

User Name: This field should contain your e-mail username.  This is the name that appears before the "@" symbol in your e-mail address.
(ex: sheri is the user name for the e-mail address sheri@inetimage.net)

Click the "OK" button when you have completed these steps.  Your computer should now be set up to retrieve e-mail from the e-mail account you've specified.


Email Address: sheri@inetimage.net
(Enter the e-mail address you wish to add to your computer.)

My incoming mail server: POP3 (Choose POP3 from the drop down menu options if it is not already listed.)
Incoming Mail Server: inetimage.net (Enter your domain name here.)
Outgoing Mail Server: inetimage.net (You may opt to leave your Internet access information in this spot if it is already listed.  If it is not, and you do not have information for your Internet access, enter your domain name.)

Remember Password: This allows your computer to remember your e-mail password.  If you check this box, you will not be required to type in your password when retrieving your e-mail.

Click "Finish" to complete your e-mail account set-up.
